KEY DESIGN ELEMENTS

Urban College & Career Preparatory Charter School’s Key Design Elements are the core of our academic and youth development programming. They define how students learn, grow, and are supported each day, ensuring that every student is known, challenged, and prepared for the future.

At UCC Prep, every student is known, valued, and supported by a community of adults. Through out small school model, cohort-based structure, daily advisory, and strong grade-level teams, we build meaningful relationships that ensure each student is connected to at least one adult who understands their needs and supports their learning and development.

  • Small school model
  •  Daily advisory
  • Team-based student support

Students learn through a balance of strong teaching and increasing independence. Teachers provide clear instruction and support, then gradually shift responsibility to students through collaboration and independent work. Instructional is designed to meet diverse learning needs and provide targeted support when needed, ensuring all students can access rigorous learning, achieve proficiency grade-level standards, and be prepared to succeed in college and career.

  • Clear instruction and support
  • Accessible learning for all students
  • Collaborative and independent learning
  • Targeted academic supports

Our curriculum reflects who our students are and the world around them. Students explore their identities, engage with diverse perspectives, and express themselves through writing, discussion, and the arts. This helps students build confidence, develop voice, and deepen their understanding of themselves and others.

  • Culturally responsive, knowledge-rich curriculum
  • Diverse perspectives and texts
  • Arts as a medium for student expression and identity development

UCC Prep is a safe, structured, and supportive learning community where students focus on learning and growth. Through strong relationships, restorative practices, and robust student support services, we ensure every student feels respected, supported, and ready to learn.
